The Tour of Parga - Beach of Valtos

Holy Monastery of Panagia Vlacheron

You can learn the history of the city in 30 minutes, ending up at the magnificent beach of Valtos, where the Holy Monastery of Vlachades is located.

It is a Byzantine monastery built before the 12th century in one of the most beautiful locations in the area.

The Monastery of Vlaherna is located in the area of Valtos of Parga on a hill. The bell tower of the 18th century, which is 15 metres high, is in the Eptanian style. It stands in the whole area and is the only one that has survived.

The icon of Panagia Vlaherna is said to have come from Cappadocia (the year 986 is written on the icon and is kept today in the ecclesiastical museum of Parga).
